Property Tax:
On 06/10/2008 a $.05 per $100.00 valuation property tax was approved for property owners in Whitsett. The
tax is listed on and collected via the Guilford County tax billing system.
Garbage Collection:
The Town provides weekly garbage collection service at no cost to its residents using Republic Services. The
quantity of regular household garbage (or solid waste) shall not exceed 96 gallons per household per week.
Residents are responsible for purchasing containers; and containers that are permitted are one (1) 96-gallon,
two (2) 45-gallon, or three (3) 32-gallon receptacles. If heavy-duty trash bags are preferred, each household is
limited to four (4) provided they are the equivalent of 96 gallons or less. Republic Services is not responsible for
gathering trash from bags that been tampered with by animals or otherwise.
Please place all enclosed garbage containers at the roadside curb by 7:00 a.m. on Monday morning. If you
exceed the 96 gallon limit, it is considered bulk trash; and residents may contact Republic Services directly at
336-299-0815 to arrange for a special pickup at a nominal charge
Town of Whitsett Residents Recycling (10/01/10)
The Town Council has decided to continue the use of (3) three eight yard containers for Town of Whitsett
residents to drop off their recycling materials. This is the least costly process to meet state requirements on
banned material going into land fields.
The recycle site is unmanned, but the service (provided through Republic Waste) should continue as long as:
1) the site doesn’t become messy,
2) non-recyclable items aren't deposisted with recyclables (allowed list under guidelines and on container),
3) personal trash is not left in containers.
Should any of these or other unforeseen negative impacts occur, the Council would need to rethink another
course.
We ask that you please respect the reasonable hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday for
disposing of your recyclables using the Town Hall bins.
